MIXED MEDIA

A Reflection on Human Deep

In these sculptures, different materials come together to form a single expressive language. Their textures, colors, and weights interact to reflect the balance between light and shadow, strength and vulnerability.

By combining them, the work mirrors the complexity of the human soul — made of contrasts, yet always searching for harmony. The mixed media becomes a way to show how our inner world is built from many layers, held together in a delicate and ever-changing equilibrium.

Symbolic Sculptures

Covid
White Marble and Red Verona Marble | 68x28x25cm 35kg

Created in white marble and Red Verona marble, Covid emerged in the earliest weeks of the virus’s global spread. As fear moved rapidly across borders and through bodies, I began shaping this piece—carving uncertainty, fragility, and the invisible weight of collective anxiety into stone. The sculpture reflects how destabilizing the moment was: a stark tension between vulnerability and resilience. Through the shifting, skeletal form, I tried to give shape to an emotion that was everywhere yet impossible to grasp. It stands as a symbolic imprint of a world suddenly thrown out of balance, searching for a new point of equilibrium.

The Grimace
Varnished Terracotta | 33x12x28cm 6kg

Shaped in varnished terracotta, The Grimace emerged from observing the fleeting, often unnoticed expressions that surface on the human face. These micro-gestures—tensions, contractions, distortions—reveal truths that words rarely hold. In this sculpture, the face becomes a landscape of raw emotion, a terrain carved by instinct rather than intention. The twisted features carry the weight of discomfort, resistance, and the unspoken reactions that rise from deep within us. By solidifying such a transient expression in clay, the work captures the fragile equilibrium between what we show and what we suppress—between the inner pulse of feeling and the outward mask we struggle to maintain.

Tribal Panter
Marquina Marble and red pigment 40x60x40cm 20kg

Carved in dark stone with soft red incisions, Tribal Panther grew out of my search for African primal forms—shapes guided by instinct, ritual, and ancestral memory rather than academic rules. The sculpture is not a literal panther. Instead, it draws on the symbol of the animal—its alert presence, quiet strength, and role as both protector and mythic figure. The broken planes and rough textures reflect the spirit of tribal carving, where forms are reduced to their essential energy. With this piece, I wanted to return to the origins of sculpture, where creation comes from intuition and the pulse of an older, untouched world, rather than from strict representation.

Horizon
White Carrara Marble | 21x35x29cm 22kg

Carved from White Carrara marble, Horizon explores the balance between fragmentation and vision. The face appears through the broken planes like a distant figure coming into view—part clear, part hidden—much like how we see the future in pieces. The sculpture holds a quiet sense of someone looking beyond the present. The sharp cuts and smooth surfaces reflect the inner feelings of anticipation, uncertainty, and hope. Each line guides the eye outward, toward something just beyond sight. In Horizon, the human form becomes both steady and searching—rooted in stone, yet reaching toward possibility. It expresses the delicate point between what we understand now and what we sense is still ahead.

Neurosis
White Carrara Marble | 32x17x20cm 12kg

Carved in White Carrara marble, Neurosis explores the inner fractures that shape the mind. The head is divided into shifting planes—some smooth, some rough—echoing the mixed thoughts, tensions, and contradictions we all carry. The sculpture doesn’t depict psychological turmoil directly. Instead, it shows its structure: the loops of overthinking, the pressure we feel but can’t see, and the emotional marks that shape our inner world. The intersecting surfaces and sudden breaks suggest a mind constantly sorting through its own noise, looking for clarity. In Neurosis, the human form becomes a map of the mental landscape—broken in places yet still reaching for coherence. It reflects the fragile balance between stability and disruption, vulnerability and resilience.

Capitalism
Varnished Terracotta | 14x 36x18cm 6kg

Made in varnished terracotta, Capitalism shows the human figure shaped—and strained—by the forces around it. Gold leaf fragments rest on the surface like scars or trophies—symbols of value that attract yet also damage. They trace the marks of desire, ambition, and exploitation, reflecting a pursuit that promises gain but often divides or distorts the self. The quiet, distant face suggests the emotional cost of living within an economic system that reduces people to producers. The figure becomes a vessel carrying a weight it cannot fully express. In Capitalism, the sculpture mirrors a world where material striving and inner emptiness exist side by side, holding the fragile balance between what we achieve and what we lose along the way.

Infedelity
Carrara marble on inox pedistal | 160x30x30cm

breaks and identity begins to split. The long, distant face seems to fade in and out, like a memory trying to stay whole. Gentle distortions move across the marble, hinting at emotional wounds that don’t destroy the form but quietly change it. The height of the pedestal adds a sense of distance—a figure caught between revealing and hiding, between longing and loss. The polished steel contrasts with the softness of the marble, echoing the cold force of betrayal against the fragile heart that feels it. In Infidelity, the sculpture becomes a portrait of dissonance—a relationship interrupted, intimacy brought into question. It captures the delicate balance between devotion and rupture, and the silent space that opens when truth and desire fall out of harmony.

Deposition
Portugal Pink Marble | 55x40x56cm 43kg

Carved from Portugal Pink marble, Deposition explores the slow accumulation of experience—emotional, geological, and spiritual. The surface ripples with layered textures, resembling both eroded stone and the delicate folds of organic tissue

The Sacrifice
Colored resin and wax | 30x46x20cm

Made from colored resin and wax, The Sacrifice captures a moment of surrender—raw, exposed, and unresolved. The twisted form hangs between decay and transformation, its broken surfaces showing both vulnerability and a quiet, enduring strength. The materials help tell the story: wax softens and gives way, while resin hardens and protects. Together, they express the core idea of sacrifice—letting something go so something else can appear. The worn textures and muted colors suggest a body shaped by struggle yet still willing to offer itself to a purpose beyond survival. In this work, sacrifice is not celebrated but closely observed. It becomes a gesture filled with cost, where destruction and renewal sit side by side. The sculpture reflects the fragile balance between loss, intention, and the ongoing search for meaning.

Solidarity
Portoro Marble, White Marble and Red Spanish Alicante Marble | 17x48x19cm 15kg

Composed from Portoro marble, White marble, and Red Spanish Alicante, Solidarity unites three distinct stones into a single shared form—an embodiment of coexistence, mutual support, and collective strength. The figure rises from dark veined marble, its posture steady, as if carrying the weight of many voices within a single body. Above the head, the interplay of red and white stone suggests intertwined presences—individual yet inseparable—lifting together, leaning together. Their shapes evoke the idea that unity is not the absence of difference, but the harmony created when differences stand in relation. The contrast of textures and tones becomes a metaphor for connection: the polished surfaces and fractured lines speaking to the complexities of standing with others in times of need. In Solidarity, sculpture becomes a testament to shared resilience—a reminder that equilibrium is not achieved in isolation, but through the quiet, powerful act of holding one another up.

New Generation
Nuvolino Marble | 18 x20 x28cm 9kg

Carved from Nuvolino marble, New Generation emerges as a study of becoming—of forms not yet fixed, identities still unfolding. The sculpture’s soft, nested curves evoke a sense of gestation, as though something new is gathering strength within protective layers of stone. The interplay between rough and polished surfaces mirrors the transition from inherited structures to emerging perspectives. It suggests the tension every new generation experiences: the weight of what came before and the instinct to carve a different path. The composition feels both grounded and in motion, as if the form is slowly pushing outward, finding its own direction. In this way, the piece becomes a quiet metaphor for growth—an acknowledgement that renewal begins in small, subtle shifts before it reshapes the world around it. In New Generation, the marble carries a sense of promise: fragile, evolving, and full of potential, balancing the unknown with the irresistible drive to move forward.

Maternity
Black Marquina Marble | 78x30x32cm 70kg

Carved from Black Marquina marble, Maternity embodies the profound duality of strength and tenderness that defines the act of creation. The dark stone, dense and grounding, lends the figure an almost monolithic presence—an anchor for the life held gently within its embrace. The form rises in a quiet, protective gesture: a silhouette that feels both ancient and universal. The rough textures and flowing lines echo the rhythms of nurture—warmth, shelter, and the silent devotion that binds one being to another. Subtle transitions within the marble suggest the merging of two identities, the moment when boundaries soften and connection becomes sustenance. In Maternity, the sculpture becomes a vessel of origin, a reminder of the equilibrium between vulnerability and resilience that motherhood carries. It stands as a tribute to the timeless, instinctive act of giving life shape, protection, and a place to begin.

Emotional Awareness
Statuary Carrara Marble | 60x40x35cm 38kg

Carved from Statuary Carrara marble, Emotional Awareness explores the intricate terrain of feeling—how emotions surface, ripple, and reshape the self from within. The sculpture’s cascading layers evoke waves of internal movement, each fold a trace of something sensed, processed, or transformed. From the textured mass, a face gradually emerges, not fully defined but unmistakably present. It appears to rise from the shifting marble as insight rises from experience—slowly, quietly, through countless subtle adjustments. The interplay of sharp ridges and softened contours mirrors the way we navigate our inner lives: sometimes with clarity, sometimes through turbulence, always in motion. In Emotional Awareness, the human form becomes a vessel for introspection, embodying the equilibrium between vulnerability and understanding. It reflects the ongoing practice of recognizing our emotional landscapes and allowing them to guide us toward deeper connection with ourselves and others.
